The importance of training...
This morning at 10am ten candidates all sponsored by Total in partnership with Pacific Projects Logistics(PPL) were certified as GP Ratings in a small ceremony held at the PMTC Mess Hall.
Present were a few representatives from Total and Pacific Projects Logistics. The candidates were encouraged by Mr Kritoe Kelebo (Total representative) to make use of the knowledge and skills they have learnt from the training course while in Port Moresby. Mr Kelebo has visited their villages and seen the hardships that their people face. All candidates hail from Baimuru in the Gulf province. He stressed the importance of finding seamanship employment and helping their own people in the village.
The Managing Director for PPL, Mr Graham Magoffin also congratulated the ten candidates. His company has assisted in organising the marine training for these candidates.
The deputy Principal, Mr Henry Wilson thanked Total and PPL for having faith in PMTC to train the candidates. He also encouraged the companies to keep sending students to be trained at PMTC's school. A representative from the group of students thanked all parties involved in assisting them to earn themselves the certificates so they can find maritime employment to assist their families in the village.
Our PMTC staff prepared a light refreshment for the candidates that received certificates, the Total and PPL staff and parents as well.
