A mandatory course for ratings prior to joining a tanker. The syllabus is in accordance with the provisions of Section A-V/1 of STCW and this course has NMSA accreditation.
This course provides ratings with understanding of their responsibility in loading, discharging and care in transit or handling of cargo. It provides them knowledge appropriate to their duties, including oil tanker safety, fire safety measures and systems, pollution prevention, operational practice and obligations under applicable law and regulations. In reference to section A-V/1 of the STCW Code adopted by the International Convention on Standards of Training, Certification and Watch keeping for Seafarers, 1978, as amended 2010.
