Mr Alobi BOMO
DIRECTOR OF TRAINING
Alobi is a qualified marine engineer. He started his marine engineering career in 1980 and served in the merchant marine industry for 16 years.
He had chief engineers experience , overseeing , running and maintenance of ships propulsion machinery between 500 KW to 3000KW and participated in carrying out maintenance and repairs on ships on slipways.
He has been involved in delivery voyages of new vessels constructed in Singapore.
After his seafaring career, Alobi lectured in marine engineering at the PNG MC for 4 years.
During his 4 years with the PNG MC, he was in charge of the engine room training complex that simulated all marine engine systems and overseeing all fire fighting courses.
Alobi conducted trainings on behalf of PNG MC in Fiji, Marshall Islands and Tonga for engineer class 3 certificate upgrades to STCW 1995 amendment.
From 2005 to 2015, Alobi was employed by the Secretariat of the Pacific Community (SPC) in Fiji. His employment with SPC was involved with providing advise to Maritime Administrations and Maritime Training Institutions and Ports in the Pacific Region.
He is a qualified Auditor, Lead Auditor and Check Auditor in ISO 19011 standards.

Alobi ensures all trainings at PMTC are coordinated in line with managements approval and with appropriate exiting resources and qualified staff to comply with PNG NMSA requirements.
He conducts quality internal audits to ensure that the training standard meets the STCW requirements as amended in 2010.
He works in collaboration with PMTC’s Principal, Deputy Principal and Registrar to ensure trainings conducted at PMTC are well coordinated and in line with industry standard and needs.
Alobi also assists in lecturing marine engineering subjects and safety courses at PMTC.
