The Mate Class 5 Officer Training prepares the
navigation Officer for the Master Class 5 Oral
examination to become master of vessels up to
200GT operating within 200NM offshore. It is the
lowest ranking officer on any coastal merchant ship
operating within the 200NM offshore. A Mate 5
should be familiar with both knowledge and practice
of the operation of a marine vessel.

This module provides the learner with the knowledge
and skills necessary to plan and conduct coastal
operation for vessels up to 200 gross.
